A Summer Place- Watch Hill RI

Greetings, I have been away from the blog for too long… have finished the fall line, have been hit by the great storm of summer 12, have re-designed all our collateral materials etc etc etc… more on all of  this  coming later in the week and next.

Here begins the first in a series where we  feature some of our wonderful retailers.

Today I bring you A Summer Place in Watch Hill ,Rhode Island.

Located in historic and totally charming Watch Hill, Rhode Island, the store is open during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn months. For the past 25 years, A Summer Place has brought together many delightful, and sometimes vintage finds that capture the spirit and the fun of it’s seaside setting.”

This store is filled with so many wonderful gifts and decorative accessories that it’s hard for me to walk out without buying something. I have one of these awesome lobster pillows on my sofa at the beach.

Owner, Lori Seidel has been a BBB retailer since we first started selling to stores.

When you visit this charming store, check out the famous Watch Hill Carousel . It is the oldest merry go round in the USA that is still in operation.

The creative process

Ever wondered how we come up with the shapes or ribbons or adornments? Well it's a process that is part creative, part logistics , part response to customer demand and part availability .
Our eyes are always open, we shop, we look at magazines, we travel, we troll the web...we find inspiration everywhere. Some of our ideas come from such varied sources as antique jewelry , Christmas ornaments or door knobs. A good designer is always looking .check out andrea's pinterest boardshttp://pinterest.com/andreastieff/ to see what we mean .
Here is an example of various components found at the canton fair... Wait till you see how this idea evolved...
It's not just the bags that we design, here's a doodle sketch of our kiosk at a gift show.
Sometimes we have happy accidents, like the story about the invention of chocolate chip cookies. That's how these ornaments happened.we had the critters hanging up for a trade show and I thought
" hmm they'd make fun holiday ornaments "
